It's so quiet ...

I'm taking a mindfulness workshop ... I think it's been stretched over a period of nine or ten weeks, one day a week ... and I'm not sure if it is helping me in any way or not.

Mindfulness is being in the "present", being aware of things as they are ... and that's a really poor definition of it.  The workshop that I'm taking stems from Budhist teachings ... and that involves a lot of meditation.

Last week, one of our guided meditations had us exploring being a mountain.  I found it difficult, because all I wanted to do was giggle.  I've had other experiences ... one meditation had us focusing on a mild problem in our lives ... and during that mediation, I found that there were tears quietly streaming down my face.

I guess it's worth exploring, but I'd feel much better if all the meditative time was spent in prayer.

  2. We have a series of guided meditations ... and specific things to do in our heads while meditating ...

I guess I could just skip those things and pray ...

  3. I wish you well with the workshop Pet ...

When you say it is so quiet are you referring to Blogger, the workshop or things in general ?

  4. The internet seems so quiet, Charlie. I feel disconnected from my small group of friends ...

  5. It's all Stefan's fault. I feel like he's broken up a family.

  7. Anxious, stressed, people always anticipate the worst and lay mental plans accordingly. Our cup is never half full...Eventually, you avoid rather than engage. The most intelligent person I ever knew very rarely left his front door..He overthought ever conceivable situation and eventually, for sanity's sake, isolated himself almost totally

  8. It's easier to avoid, rather than engage, when you aren't feeling well. I'm sorry that I didn't see your comment earlier, Anonymous.

I do have times when the cup is half full ... and I hope that it is the case for most people.
